NEW YORK, NY (WTVB) -The Red Wings are in New York to skate against the Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden to finish up a 5-game road trip. Detroit has been off since a 1-0 loss in Anaheim on Sunday.

Goalie Jimmy Howard, with a hip flexor issue, is slated to be in net tonight while Daniel Alfredsson and Pavel Datsyuk are not expected to play against the Rangers due to injuries. Yesterday, Datsyuk was named captain of Team Russia and Henrik Zetterberg will wear the "C" for Team Sweden in next month's Winter Olympic games in Sochi.

In minor league hockey, last night in the ECHL at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, the K-Wings beat the Ft. Wayne Komets 3-1.
