MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (WTVB) - Top seed and five-time titlist Serena Williams was an easy winner today in third-round play at the Australian Open in brutally hot conditions at Melbourne Park. Williams’ victory allowed her to surpass Margaret Court’s record for match wins at the tournament in the Open Era with 61.

On the men's side, third seeded David Ferrer reached the round of 16 at a 15th straight Grand Slam with a straight set win.
