GRANDVILLE (WKZO) -- Senator Debbie Stabenow stopped by a place where a few sport fisherman might be found to talk about efforts to keep Asian Carp from ruining the fishing in the Great Lakes.
She held a press conference at Cabella’s mega store in Grandville to say the Army Corp of Engineers is moving too slowly.
They want to seal Great Lakes from the Illinois watershed where the carp have infested the waters by permanently closing the locks on the Chicago Sanitary and Shipping Canal. She says they now have 8 options, they need to get it down to one and implement it.
The Army Corp of Engineers held meetings in Traverse City and Ann Arbor this week to discuss their report and its 8 options. They say sealing the locks could cost billions.
