BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- A boil-water advisory has been issued for a portion of the Washington Heights Neighborhood in Battle Creek after a water main break at the intersection of Parkway Drive and Jordan St. created a sinkhole Sunday.
Until further notice, residents in the Parkway Manor Apartment complex and residents from Hubbard Road to Plymouth St. are being told to boil any water they intend to drink or cook with or use bottled water.
Because of sediments in the pipes, you may also want to hold off on the laundry for a few days because it stirs up sediments that could stain your clothing.
It could be later Monday or Tuesday before test results are back and the boil water advisory is lifted.
These freezing and fluctuating temperatures can be hard on a water utility. Battle Creek suffered four water main breaks this weekend but only one resulted in the boil water alert.
