KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The wintry weather has prompted Kalamazoo City officials to invoke a Temporary Traffic Control Order, to enforce on street parking restrictions for the next few days.
Assistant Chief Donald Webster says it’s not just a public nuisance, its a threat to public safety because they can’t get to emergency calls.
It takes effect Tuesday evening at 7, and bans parking on the side of street with even numbered homes until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The parking ban will then switch to the side of the street with odd-numbered homes. That will continue through Saturday evening at 7.
Cars found in violation may be towed at owner’s expense.
That will give road crews a clear shot to push the accumulated snow to the curbs with greater safety for both the trucks and private vehicles.
