KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Classes were cancelled Monday and will be again Tuesday, but Kalamazoo School Trustees met Monday night in special session anyway to interview the candidates for the vacancy on their board, left open by the death of Trustee Lonnie Duncan, who passed away at church on New Years Eve.
They went ahead with the interviews despite the weather because they are up against a 30 day deadline to pick a replacement.
Trustees will meet Thursday night, Jan. 30th at 6 to make a final choice.
Board President Patti Sholler-Barber says it will be a tough selection because there are so many qualified candidates.
In some cases they had to improvise because of the situation, interviewing candidates by phone.
The person who is picked will serve the remainder of the term which expires at the end of this year.
