Eric Paslay presented a $1 million check to Nashville-area school music programs Tuesday night on behalf of the CMA's Keep the Music Playing program. The presentation was part of the CMA's Keep the Music Playing All Star Concert at Nashville's CMA Theater. The evening included performances from area music students as well as Eric, who delivered his song "Less Than Whole."

Before the show, Eric looked back on what he learned taking part in school music programs growing up.

"What I do for a living is get on a stage every night," Eric explains. " So, to not be afraid to get out onstage, I learned that through playing music in school. It's scary to go out onstage because you might mess up. I think the best thing about getting out on a stage is knowing that it's OK to mess up. That transfers through life a lot."

Eric joins a long list of country stars who've hosted Keep the Music Playing concerts, including Luke Bryan , Chris Young , Kellie Pickler , David Nail and Scotty McCreery .

Says Eric, "It was just really cool to get asked to do it."

Eric Paslay is nearing the top of the country chart with his single, "Friday Night." Look for his self-titled debut album to come out next week.
