LANSING (WKZO) -- The first traces of West Nile Virus has appeared in a collection of Mosquitoes collected near Saginaw by a Mosquito Abatement Crew.
Health officials are urging residents to wear repellants if you are going to spend time outdoors, particularly around dawn and dusk.
Folks over 50 are most susceptible to the virus.
They say it’s been a bad year for mosquitoes and it appears there will also be an abundance of the particular species that carries the West Nile virus.
There were 2 deaths and 34 serious illnesses blamed on West Nile last year.
