BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- It’s every guy’s Tom Cruise fantasy, to jump into an F-16 and punch a hole in the sky.
Kody Mac who works for Sister Station Win Country 985 got a chance to go up with the US Air Force Thunderbirds yesterday, after going through a training course on how to survive a flight in a jet fighter.
He says unless you force the blood to your head, you will just pass out during a maneuver than can pull up to 9-g’s. They also wear pressure suits that help.
He says they were flying over Grand Rapids four minutes after taking off from Battle Creek and turning around by Big Rapids a few minutes later.
He says he enjoyed about 85% of the time he was wheels up, but it’s a memory and a story he will be able to tell his grand kids.
The US Air Force Thunderbirds are performing in Battle Creek this weekend at the Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival.
