EAU CLAIRE (WKZO) -- The Krause family continued their dominance this weekend at the Cherry Pit spitting competition in Eau Claire.
Eight time champion Brian “Young Gun” Krause has once again won the 41st Annual event in Berrien County, with a pit-spit of 80-feet 8-inches.
That was more than a foot short of his personal best, which is also the record for the Eau Claire event.
The national record is claimed by the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, which has its own pit spitting competition.
Brian’s father, Rick “Pellet Gun” Krause came in second. Last year’s champ, Matt “BB Gun” Krause could not repeat. . .
The tournament is held annually at the Tree-Mendus Fruit Farm. The Krause family has claimed victory 26 of the 41 times it’s been held.
