BERRIEN COUNTY (WKZO) -- State Police have issued an update to Monday's murder-suicide south of St. Joseph.
41-year-old Delaina Tripp of St. Joseph died from the gunshot wounds inflicted by her husband, not by subsequently being run over by a car.
Autopsies on her and her husband were performed Tuesday at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. Michigan State Police investigators say David Tripp shot and killed his wife as she was running across John Beers Road early Monday morning, and then took his own life behind their home.
A 29-year-old Mishawaka man later ran over Delaina's body.
He told police he stayed at the scene until State Police Troopers arrived with guns drawn, and thought at that point it was unsafe to stay there. He turned himself in for questioning on Tuesday.
It doesn’t appear he will be charged.
