CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) - After three days of deliberation, a St Joseph County jury has found Andy Brown of Portage guilty in the shooting death of Sturgis accountant David Locey. The second degree murder verdict came back from jurors late Monday morning. Brown was also found guity of a felony weapons charge.
Locey was found dead in his office in Sturgis. Prosecutors argued there was a confrontation the day before Locey’s body was found, with Locey claiming Brown had embezzeled $100,000 from the accounts of his clients. The prosecutor also told jurors that gunshot residue had been found all over Brown’s suit and vest.
Brown is scheduled to be sentenced August 29. He could face life in prison.
