PAW PAW (WKZO) -- It's taken a few years, but a retail giant is now open in Paw Paw.
The doors are finally open after several years of work to bring a Walmart to the Van Buren County Community along I-94.
The 'supercenter' opened Wednesday on M-140 just south of the interstate.
Walmart has hired about 200 people to work at the 120,000 square foot store.
Plans were first drawn up for the location nearly a decade ago, but were scrapped in 2007 when the recession started to cripple Michigan's economy.
The retail giant came back to Paw Paw village officials two years ago to restart the talks for the store. construction began in September.
