BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- A Battle Creek woman has been charged with third degree child abuse for allegedly taking discipline a bit too far.
Police say she punished her 14-year-old son by tying his hands and feet and beating him with a belt.
Sara Mendes Lucas is being held on 20-thousand dollars after police rescued her son Saturday from a home on Rittenhouse Avenue after they received a call.
The 14-year old had belt marks and welts on his body.
Lucas has a total of 7-children, and is now also being investigated by Child Protective Services.
