Detroit Lions to pay tribute top late owner this season

ALLEN PARK, MI (WTVB) - The Detroit Lions will pay tribute to longtime owner William Clay Ford this season. Players will wear a patch on their uniform with the letters WCF inside a black football shape with two stripes in the Lions' colors of blue and silver. Ford passed away in March. He bought the team in November 1963 and became sole owner in January 1964. The Lions will debut the patches in their regular season opener at Ford Field September 8th against the Giants on "Monday Night Football." Detroit opens training camp today for rookies while veterans report to the team’s Allen Park facility on Saturday.
