LANSING (WKZO) -- The Michigan Retailers Association is launching a new campaign to get people to stop buying on the internet and go back to local stores to help the Michigan economy.
Assoc. Pres. Jim Hallan says if you really want to help the state make a comeback, supporting local retailers is one way to do it.
He says a dollar spent in Michigan circulates around, boosting the economy and creating jobs.
He says its all about your fellow Michiganders and keeping them working. They launched the campaign this week with the introduction of “Buy Nearby Guy”.
He’s a mascot, who appears to be a large blue shopping bag in the shape of the state of Michigan, with arms and legs, and a face.
