OVERLAND, KANSAS (WKZO) -- The Sunseeker crew says they have spent four dull days on the road during the American Solar Challenge, slowly making their way from Texas to Minnesota.
Spokesman Alec Carpenter says boring is a good thing when you are driving across American roads in a homemade car that runs on sunlight. It means nothing is going wrong.
They are in 7th place but he says the goal isn’t winning, it’s finishing.
He says its called the American Solar Challenge, not a race.
Participating in the event is really all about the educational experience and problem solving challenges they face as engineering students.
He says this Sunseeker Team has logged more miles along the route than any WMU Solar team since 2006.
They finished the fourth day at the waypoint in Overland, Kansas strictly on solar power.
They haven’t had to trailer their car yet.
