Polls show the state's two biggest races are still competitive

LANSING (WKZO) -- Another poll shows the race for governor tightening up.

This time a Mitchell poll has Mark Schauer trialing Governor Rick Snyder by just 4%, 43 to 39%.

Snyder’s numbers have remained relatively the same for the past few months but Schauer’s numbers have been rising as he has gained more name recognition.

In Michigan’s other big race,Gary Peters leads Terri Lynn Land by 5% in the race for the U.S. Senate seat that is currently held by Carl Levin. .

It’s a reversal from this spring when Land led most polls.

It's at least the 11th straight poll to show Peters in the lead.

The election is 100 days away and now the pundits say the real race will begin as more and more voters, and particularly independents,  begin to pay attention and make up their minds.
