CASS COUNTY (WKZO) -- A young woman is dead and three others hospitalized after a violent high speed crash in Cass County late Saturday night.
Cass County Deputies say that 19-year-old Austin Brouwer of Osceola, Indiana was speeding north on M-60 in Howard Township, passing a slower car on the right dirt shoulder of the road when his vehicle went back onto the pavement and hit a car, went out of control and began flipping and rolling in the grass median.
There were three others in his vehicle when it crashed.
Brouwer is listed in serious but stable condition.
23-year-old Rayna Dobrodt of Mishawaka died from her injuries at Niles Lakeland Hospital.
21-year-old Scott Voresis was sitting next to Dobrodt in the back seat. He was also taken to Niles Lakeland where he was treated and released.
Front seat passenger Janet Menting, who is 21, was flown by Air Care to Memorial South Bend where she is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the other car was not seriously injured.
Deputies say alcohol was not a factor and seatbelts were used. The crash remains under investigation, and charges may result.
