Four wounded in shooting near Western Michigan University overnight

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) --   Public Safety is looking for the gunman or gunmen who fired shots at a group of people in the parking lot of Campus Habitat Apartments, wounding three men and one woman at about 3 a.m. Sunday.

Public Safety says none of the victims are WMU students.

It appears that an exchange of words escalated into a fight and that resulted in gun fire.

Arriving officers found two 20-year-old males with gunshot wounds to the legs and had them transported to Emergency.

Two other victims were transported to Bronson Emergency by private vehicle. A 22-year-old male was treated for a leg wound and a 20-year-old woman suffered a bullet wound in the buttock.

All of the victims, who are in their late teens and early 20's  are expected to survive their wounds.

Campus Habitat is the large multi-story apartment complex across Howard Street from the WMU campus and just south of the Campus Pointe Mall.
