DEARBORN (WKZO) -- For the first time in a long time, gas prices in Michigan are now below the national average.
Trilby Lundberg’s bi-weekly national survey says the average is $3.58 after a nine cent drop in the last two weeks.
AAA of Michigan says average prices have dropped 14-cents in the last week to $3.49 a gallon.
Sue Hiltz at AAA and Lundberg agree on the reason, they say refineries are working at maximum capacity and that means there is a lot of gas available.
Hiltz says that geopolitical tensions because the situation in the Ukraine and fighting in the Gaza Strip haven’t impacted global oil production.
