KALAMAZOO (WKZO) – Prosecutors say it was a dispute over a marijuana sale that led to the shooting death of 19-year-old Christopher Adams last Wednesday night on Mt. Olivet Road.
DaQuan Prichett has been formally charged with open murder and a felony gun count for allegedly firing the gun that killed Adams.
21-year-old Tyler Bishop has also been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing back, but missing.
Bond was denied for the 18-year-old Pritchett. Bishop is being held on a quarter million dollars bond.
It’s been a bloody summer in Kalamazoo, and this past week has been one of the worst with 9-people wounded or killed by gunfire.
Township Trustee Mark Miller mentioned at Monday night’s Township meeting that he was sleeping when the gunfire from the shooting at Campus Habitat Apartments woke him up.
His wife thought it was fireworks but he could tell it was coming from an automatic weopon.
He says he heard about 25-shots. Four young adults were wounded in that shooting.
