BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- Suspected murderer Shawn Pike apparently told police that he just “snapped” when gas station clerk Nicole Gates reached for the phone during a robbery just before midnight on July 23rd.
According to court documents obtained by TV-8, Pike confessed to detectives that he started stabbing her and didn’t stop until the knife broke.
The information comes from a court document submitted to obtain the arrest warrant.
]Police say he used her keys to lock the place and took her car.
Pike explained that he needed cash to leave town because he was already being sought by police.
After the robbery, he told a friend what he had done, she called Battle Creek police and they tracked him down using his cell phone.
