DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors is apologizing to families of accident victims who received recall notices over defective ignition switches.

GM has recalled 2.6-million of some of its most popular models to replace the switch that has led to at least 13 deaths. Some people who lost family members in fatal crashes have complained that GM should not have sent them notices to bring their cars in for repair.

A GM spokesman has apologized, saying the automaker was "deeply sorry" to those families that have received recall notices.
