BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- A protest that began a week ago at Boeing Headquarters near Chicago, ended Saturday at the Air National Guard Base at Fort Custer.
The demonstrators want the U.S. to stop using remotely controlled aircraft to carry out military missions around the world.
Members of the group walked from Illinois to Michigan over the past week. One of the future missions at the base in Battle Creek will be to remotely pilot the un-manned aircraft in hot-spots around the world.
None of the “drones” will actually be located in Battle Creek.
The protestors say the drones are a terror weapon that too often kill civilians.
The Air Force says the drones permit them to perform missions without putting U.S. Servicemen in harms way, and can actually do a better job of limiting collateral damage, injuries and deaths.
