(WNFL)- All nine Midwest League All-Stars from Wisconsin played in their Mid-Summer game last night at West Michigan -- in which the Western Division trounced the East 7-to-nothing. Herschel "Boog" Powell of Beloit was the game's MVP with a two-run double, a pair of stolen bases, and three runs scored. Luis Baez of Beloit went 1-for-2. Clint Coulter of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers walked and went 0-for-1. Taylor Brennan of the Rattlers went 0-for-2. Kyle Finneman of the Beloit Snappers got the win after throwing a perfect first inning with one strikeout. Three other pitchers from the two Wisconsin clubs also helped throw a no-hitter that lasted into the eighth. Preston Gainey of the Timber Rattlers struck out a pair in his inning of work. Wisconsin's Taylor Williams and Barrett Astin of Beloit also got in on the no-hit stretch with a perfect inning apiece. Beloit's Andrew Avila pitched the game's final out. The Midwest League is off for one final day. The season's second half begins tomorrow.
