NEW YORK (WKZO) -- A major recall has been issued for Velveeta in the Midwest.
Most cheeses need to age a little before they are ready for market, but Velveeta isn’t cheese. Its processed cheese food and aging isn’t good for it. Kraft is now issuing a recall for 260 cases sent to Walmart Stores because it doesn’t contain enough preservatives.
They say it could spoil prematurely or worse, become a medium for food-bourne illnesses.
The improperly manufactured cheese-like substance was sent to 3 Walmart distribution centers and could now be scattered in kitchens in 12 Midwestern states including Michigan.
If you shop at Walmart, you may want to take it back or toss it.
