RIO DE JANEIRO (WTVB) - It's not a loss but the United States' World Cup result against Portugal last night is still a downer. Portugal score with seconds to go in extra time to earn a 2-2 draw with the U.S. The U.S. had taken the lead off a goal from Clint Dempsey in the 81st minute. Jermaine Jones scored the equalizer for the United States in the 64th minute after Portugal went ahead 1-0 early in the match. The U.S. is now tied atop Group G with Germany with four points. The teams meet Thursday afternoon in the final match of the group round. Team USA needs a win or draw to advance to the knockout round. The U.S. can also move on with a loss as long as they beat Ghana and Portugal on goal differential.
