ARLINGTON, TX (WTVB) - The first place Detroit Tigers had the day off yesterday after playing 20 straight days and tonight they start another stretch of 13 days in-a-row of scheduled games when they take on the Rangers in Texas to open a 3-game series at Arlington.
Detroit will be shooting to stretch its winning streak to five after coming off a 3-game sweep at Cleveland. The Tigers lead in the American League Central over the second place Kansas City Royals is two games after the Royals picked up a half game last night with a 5-3 victory over the Dodgers.
Drew Smyly starts tonight for Detroit against the slumping Rangers, who have lost 5 straight and 10 of their last 14.
The last place Chicago White Sox continue their slide in the Central Division, falling 7-and-a half games off the pace after a 6-4 loss last night at Baltimore. And the Cubs lost 6-1 to the Reds at Wrigley Field.
