JACKSON (WKZO) -- Michael Elliott, the inmate who escaped from medium security at the ionia correction facility has announced his intention to represent himself at trial.
He has been charged with car-jacking, kidnapping and prison escape.
Corrections officials say after he managed to work his way out of the prison on Super Bowl Sunday, he forced a woman to drive him to northern Indiana.
He would be recaptured less than 24-hours after his escape, thanks to her help.
An Ionia County Judge granted his request to serve as his own attorney.
Elliott has little to lose, by being his own lawyer. He is already serving multiple life terms for a Quadruple killing.
