Arlington, TX (WKZO) – The Tigers’ winning streak is now at six games after Wednesday night’s 8-6 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning on consecutive pitches and Miguel Cabrera drove in two runs for Detroit, who have increased their lead in the AL Central to four games over the Kansas City Royals with the win.

Anibal Sanchez (5-2) struck out five and allowed four runs on six hits while walking just one in 5 1/3 innings. Joe Nathan, a former Ranger, gave up a run before closing out the game in the ninth for this 16th save.

The Tigers scored five runs over three innings before the Rangers finally cracked the scoreboard with three in the fourth, before the Martinez’s doubled the Tigers lead to 7-3

Former Tiger Carlos Pena homered in the sixth off Sanchez.

The Tigers will look for the three-game series sweep over the Rangers on Thursday night. Rick Porcello will take the mound for Detroit. First pitch is set for 8:10pm
