TRAVERSE CITY (WKZO) -- Michigan State University tourism experts say Michigan is poised for another good year. They presented their report Monday at the Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference in Traverse City.
Dan McCole is predicting that tourism spending will increase 4.5% in the state this year.
He says the improving economy, moderating gas prices and nearly 4-million in spending by the Pure Michigan campaign to promote vacationers from Canada, China, Germany and the United Kingdom will all help.
They also say that national articles about Sleeping Bear Dunes being the most beautiful spot in the U.S., Mackinaw City ranking as the top attraction for families and articles about the beers of west Michigan also helps bring tourists to the state.
