PONTIAC (WKZO) -- The mystery of how a woman who reportedly died in 2008 voted in the 2010 elections may never be solved because records have been destroyed.
Pia Farrenkopf lived in a home on Savanna Drive in Pontiac where the mummified remains of a woman were found in a vehicle parked inside the garage earlier this month. Michigan Secretary of State officials believe there was an administrative error with election officials in Pontiac after finding Farrenkopf voted in Michigan's November 2010 election.
Michigan law only required election forms to be kept for 22 months according to Pontiac City Clerk Sherika Hawkins. The law has since changed and those forms are now kept on file for six years.
