INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WTVB) - The Big Ten tournament matchups for Michigan and Michigan State are now set as the Wolverines and Spartans will play their quarterfinal games today at Indianapolis. Top-seed Michigan gets the ball rolling at Noon today against Illinois, which yesterday beat Indiana 64-54.
Number-3 seed Michigan State has the late game tonight against Northwestern after the Wildcats last night upset Iowa 67-62. In yesterday’s other first round games, Ohio State got past Purdue 63-61 while Minnesota held off Penn State 63-56.
In the Mid-American Conference tournament at Cleveland, top-seed Western Michigan has a 6:30 semi-final game tonight against Akron after the Zips took out Ohio yesterday while also on Thursday, Eastern Michigan advanced by beating Buffalo. EMU will face off against Toledo in tonight’s other semi-final contest. The MAC title game is tomorrow night.
There was a top-5 upset last night as third ranked Villanova lost at the buzzer 64-63 to Seton Hall in the Big East quarterfinals.
