LANSING (WKZO) -- A new survey shows a majority of Michigan voters would likely support a proposal for 350-million dollars in state aid to be dedicated to Detroit pensions in exchange for protecting city-owned art from being auctioned off.

According to a Lambert, Edwards and Associates' statewide survey of roughly 600 likely voters, 61-percent support Governor Rick Snyder's proposal. Just 25-percent oppose the financial assistance.

The polling data is the first to capture public sentiment regarding the governor's request for the Legislature to appropriate the money from the tobacco settlement fund over 20 years for city pensions.
