LAKELAND, FL (WTVB) - The Detroit Tigers were doubled up by the Marlins 4-2 yesterday in Grapefruit League action in Lakeland. Former Detroit pitcher Jacob Turner, who went to Miami as part of the trade that brought Anibal Sanchez to the Tigers, started and picked up the win for the Marlins. Detroit starter Drew Smyly struggled Thursday, surrendering four runs on 8 hits over 3 and a third innings of work. Austin Jackson had 3 hits for the Tigers, including a triple.
Detroit, which has a 7-7 record this spring, will host the Washington Nationals this afternoon.
