KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo Public School student won’t lose any of their spring break but will lose some of their summer vacation, because of all the snow days this year.
Kalamazoo Schools Supt. Michael Rice says they will give the state the 170 days of instruction they require, but they plan to wait until after spring break to announce which days they will add, when the chance of any addition snow days will have passed.
Dr. Rice says it has been the worst winter in anyone’s memory when it comes to snow days. They had ten this year, and that’s twice as many as any single year in the last decade.
Yesterday the State Senate approved a provision in a school budget bill that there will be no waivers, that districts must make up all but 6 snow days.
