Fixing Michigan's roads a question of priorities

LANSING (WKZO) -- A new poll that shows that Michigan voters mostly blame the legislature and the governor for the state of the roads has sparked debate this election year.

The survey conducted by Target Insyght shows 28% of the public blames the legislature, and 24% blame the Governor.

Representative Bob Genetski of Saugatuck says what voters don’t understand is that the 19-cent gas tax doesn't go completely towards the state's roads, some of it goes to things he would like to cut, like bike paths and green buses.

House Rep. Sean McCann says the respondents to the poll have it right, it’s a question of priorities and leadership in Lansing, and right now they aren't seeing much of either.

Governor Snyder's office responded to the poll by saying that he's working to solve the problem instead of placing blame.
