DETROIT (WKZO) -- Both GM and Congress are gearing up for congressional hearings next week into the ignition switch recall in their own way.

GM CEO Mary Barra, who is scheduled to testify, has issued a series of short videos to answer some of the most often asked questions like What is the company doing to avoid repeats, and is it safe to drive an old Cobalt?

She says yes. Senator Richard Blumenthal has more pointed questions, like will GM be compensating the victims?

That’s a question the company has yet to answer.

It is likely to come up next week on Capitol Hill.

Barra is scheduled to testify Tuesday and Wednesday, as various committees take turns.
