INDIANAPOLIS (WKZO) -- The Kentucky Wildcats are back in the finals after defeating second-seeded Michigan 75-72 to win the Midwest Regional in Indianapolis.
It’s been a tough day for Michigan sports fans as both the Wolverines and the Spartans have fallen just a game short of the Final Four.
The University of Michigan went into the game against Kentucky with the higher seed, but as this tourney has proven, that didn’t make a whole lot of difference in who actually won the games.
The score was tied with less than a minute to play, but Kentucky managed to score a 3-pointer with less than ten seconds and Michigan needed a miracle of a half-court shot to win and just couldn’t get it.
The eighth-seeded Wildcats will face West Regional champion Wisconsin on Saturday at the home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys. Kentucky won the national title in 2012 and lost in the Final Four the year before.
