PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Police never know what to expect when they respond to domestic disputes.
Portage Public Safety is reporting a male/female disturbance that apparently evolved into an arson fire Sunday afternoon.
The first officers on the scene noticed smoke coming from inside the home in the 5800 block of Old Mission Street, just about 4 p.m.
They called for back-up from the fire department and made sure all of the occupants of the house were evacuated.
It took about half an hour to put the fire out.
A 54-year-old woman was taken into custody for arson and lodged in the Kalamazoo County Jail pending a review of the investigation by the prosecutor’s office.
