Abbrederis signs

(WNFL)- Wisconsin receiver Jared Abbrederis became the first Green Bay draft pick to sign a contract yesterday. Media reports said he got a four-year deal worth just over $2.3 million dollars. The Packers also signed their seventh-round pick, receiver Jeff Janis. Lower-round draft choices have almost no wiggle room since the NFL went to a rookie wage scale. It's possible that Green Bay could have all but two of its nine draft picks signed by the time the Packers' rookie camp begins tomorrow. It could take a little longer to sign the team's top two draft choices -- first-round safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and second-round receiver Davante Adams. They're allowed to get a little more guaranteed bonuses and slight differences in their contract structures. Also, the Packers reportedly failed to sign undrafted defensive end Denico Autry from Army. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said minor health issues caused the Packers to change their minds. Also, Green Bay cut corner James Nixon. He played in three games last year as a rookie, but he was placed on injured reserve in November with a knee injury.
