KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Wayside West employee, who has been charged with shooting a customer to death after an argument in the bar, will stand trial for murder.
At his preliminary hearing Wednesday, the defense claimed that 23-year-old Orlando Mitchell was just defending himself from Damian Tajada, who reportedly hit him in the head with a bar glass.
Witnesses testified that the victim was trying to run away from Mitchell after the first shot was fired.
They described how Mitchell chased him through the bar and into the poker room, where Mitchell shot him several times as he lay defenseless on the ground. All this took place in front of dozens of terrified bar patrons.
Mitchell is being held without bond on that open murder charge.
