KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Every year Kalamazoo in Bloom fills flower beds in Kalamazoo County with bedding plants. They planned to do their planting today in Portage.
It’s being postponed because of this unseasonably cold weather.
There were frost advisories out last evening, and could be more this weekend.
Executive Director Monica Trahe says planting in such low temperatures is not only bad for the flowers but it discourages the volunteers who do the work.
Instead they will plant in Portage next Wednesday and Kalamazoo on Thursday.
This year's displays will also feature dozens of new topiaries in the shape of animals, to celebrate the anniversary of the event.
