PLAINWELL (WKZO) -- Just days after Plainwell High had to be closed because of a mystery virus, the School Board has decided to suspend Superintendent Susan Wakefield for a day for a matter “pertaining to student safety issues”.
That is specific as they are willing to be.
The Board decided to give Dr. Wakefield a day off without pay after a closed door session. They will vote on the resolution drafted by their attorney on Monday.
It’s not known if the two are connected, but it made for a lot of rumor and speculation in Plainwell.
It was first suspected that the source of the virus may have been a restaurant in the Rose Street Market in Kalamazoo where students held their prom, but none of the workers there have been ill.
Health officials should get test results back on whether it was a norovirus or something else next week.
