LANSING (WKZO) -- With Memorial Day a week away, we are working toward a three day weekend.
Area Police agencies will be getting a jump on the holiday, starting their Click it or Ticket enforcement campaign today.
Officers from departments all over southern and western Michigan will be working federally funded overtime to catch folks who aren’t buckled up.
Ann Readett at the Office of Highway Safety Planning says some agencies will be employing Safety Belt Enforcement Zones, and ticketing anyone who isn't strapped in.
They will be stopping all cars along a particular roadway to make sure everyone is buckled up,.
The beefed up enforcement period runs through the holiday weekend.
