KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Kalamazoo Literacy Council will hold their 40th annual meeting Tuesday evening.
The organization has been working for four decades teaching adults to read, and given a boost from grants and volunteer efforts, they have never been bigger.
Executive Director Michael Evans says about 25-thousand, or 13% of Kalamazoo County’s population cannot read.
They have 160 volunteers helping over 200 adult learners get the skills they need to read.
The organization will hold their annual meeting this evening downtown.
