KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It’s called “The Hub” its downtown and it opened at the Kalamazoo Public Library Tuesday evening.
Video tapes, cassettes, film slides and LP records are all analog media and it’s quickly becoming more difficult to find the equipment to play them.
A lot of people have precious family memories stored in formats that make them all but inaccessible. Kalamazoo Library card holders now have a place to go to get them transferred to digital media, for free.
Library Director Ann Rohrbaugh says that only applies if you are a resident of the Library District, and have a library card.
You are responsible to bring your own storage, whether its CD blanks or access to cloud memory.
There are still some formats they can’t transfer, like 8-tracks, reel to reel, BETA, and a few others, but they are working on those too.
