BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek Firefighter was injured battling a fire that took three hours to extinguish at 15-Fremont Place Monday evening.
The home is considered a total loss and they are still looking for the trigger that started the blaze in the wood frame residential structure.
The occupants were not home at the time.
Fire crews were dispatched right around 9-pm and found the home fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene.
The firefighter fell through a floor that collapsed because of the fire damage to the structure. He was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
They estimate the damage at $60,000.
