KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Commissioners are expected to accepted federal grant money Tuesday evening to buy equipment for Public Safety, but this money doesn’t come from the Pentagon and it won’t be spent on assault vehicles..
The 65-thousand dollars from the Department of Justice will be spent replacing outdated and obsolete Tasers for Public Safety and for Kalamazoo County Deputies.
The City will be receiving a separate 22-thousand dollar grant to replace aging and worn out bullet proof vests.
The Federal Grant will cover half the cost.
The funding comes from a separate program at the Justice Department.
